About Migraine Unread
Migraine Unread is an independent publication dedicated to going deeper on complex migraine than conventional medicine ever has. It is personal, deeply researched, and written for anyone who has ever been handed a diagnosis and sent home without a real explanation.
You will not find anyone here telling you what your migraine feels like. That space is already crowded with clinical phase breakdowns and well meaning explanations of what migraine sufferers experience as though every migraine looks the same. It does not. Your migraine is yours. What you may not know yet is why it is happening and what your specific body has been trying to tell you. That is the conversation this publication is built around.
The goal is never to define your experience. It is to help you understand it. Every piece published here connects one dot to another. The nervous system to the migraine. The gut to the brain. The childhood history to the adult body. The patterns that have always been there but nobody was trained to read.
This is not a blog. It is a body of work in progress, constantly growing, written from the inside of the experience.
About Amanda Richardson, BCDFN, CFNC
Amanda Richardson, BCDFN, CFNC is a Board Certified Doctor of Functional Nutrition, founder of the Functional Migraine Framework, and publisher of Migraine Unread.
She lives with hemiplegic migraine and other chronic conditions. She shrunk her own lymph nodes, avoided chemotherapy, got off five prescription medications, and spent decades connecting dots that nobody else connected. Then she pursued board certification and built the framework to explain what she found so other practitioners would have a map she never had.
She writes here because the signals were always there. In the childhood history nobody asked about. In the gut issues that seemed unrelated. In the nervous system that never learned it was safe. All of it pointing toward the migraine that eventually became impossible to ignore.
Migraine Unread exists because understanding the why can sometimes get you to healing faster than any pill ever could.
What you'll find here.
Deeply personal essays connecting lived experience to clinical research. Writing on the nervous system, gut health, nutrition, hormones, healing modalities, and everything in between. All of it connected back to migraine. All of it written for the person who needs more than a diagnosis and the practitioner who knows there is more to find.
Every piece is written from the inside of the experience. Not from a textbook, not from a clinical distance, but from someone who has lived it, researched it, and built a framework around it. The writing goes where most migraine content never goes. Into the childhood history nobody asked about, the trauma of abusive relationships and how the things we hold on to manifest in our minds, bodies and souls. Drawing lines and piecing together gut issues that were seemingly unrelated. Into the nervous system patterns that accumulated quietly for decades before anyone called it an illness.
You already know what your migraine feels like. What you may not know yet is why. That is the thread running through everything published here.
New pieces twice a month. Delivered directly to your inbox when you subscribe.
